We are currently recruiting for two Forest Categorisation and Mongoose Impact Researchers for our research site in Fiji. The vacancies are available for a fixed period of 4-8 weeks within the months of June & July 2019.
Researchers will be required to complete surveys across the Natewa peninsular and as such need to be physically fit and be able to walk for extended periods in challenging terrain. In addition researchers will need to be able to competently supervise high school students who will be joining the surveys and having previous experience of supervising young people on field work would be an advantage. Having some knowledge of how to enter GPS data and produce GIS maps from satellite imagery would also be advantageous.
Although surveys will predominantly be habitat assessment a broad background in ecology is highly desirable. Ideally, applicants should be familiar with surveying avifauna, herpetofauna and lepidoptera.
Remuneration: In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food onsite, networking and skills development, flight bursaries for more experienced applicants, and of course the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
