Bat Scientist – Croatia
Website Operation Wallacea Ltd.
Operation Wallacea is a conservation research organisation working across a range of countries and ecosystems worldwide.
We are currently recruiting for a volunteer bat scientist to work at our Croatia site, based in Krka National Park. Positions will ideally be available for several weeks between 6th June and 6th August; you can find more information on our website. If you are interested but can’t commit to the full time period please still get in touch!
The position will involve conducting evening mist-net surveys at constant-effort sites across the national park to understand bat abundance, diversity, and ecology. Applicants should have experience working in the field, a biological undergraduate degree level or higher, and extensive survey experience, ideally with bat identification knowledge and processing experience with a licence. You will be working as part of a larger staff team to deliver field courses to people looking to get a head start in ecology and conservation, so any previous teaching experience is valuable.
In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food on-site, internal travel and a bursary towards international travel, potential current and future research opportunities, networking and skills development, and of course the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
The position will be filled when we find a suitable candidate, so if you are interested, please reach out as soon as you can to give yourself the best chance. The position involves working with minors, so if successful, you will be asked to complete a background check.
If you would like to apply for the position of Croatia bat scientist, please fill in our online application form at jobs.opwall.com. Looking forward to hearing from you!
